If a person is inadmissible or if no visa applies to their situation, they may make a plea to be paroled into the U.S. based on humanitarian considerations. It does not exist to overcome regular visa application procedures when such are in place.
Potential parolees must file Form I-131 along with a hefty filing fee of $575. These petitions for parole must include convincing and compelling reasons to allow someone to enter or stay in the U.S., and should also prove that the parolee has adequate support and will not become a public charge.
