There are many different types of non-immigrant visas to the United States. However, not everyone needs a visa to enter the United States. Some individuals may enter the United States without first obtaining a visa. The Visa Waiver Program allows citizens or nationals from a specific list of countries to travel to the U.S. for up to 90 days, visa-free. The waiver program applies to business travel and tourism, but may NOT be used for study for credit, work as the foreign media, employment or permanent residence.
Persons traveling under the Visa Waiver Program must be sure to get valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval before travel.
The following is the list of the countries whose citizens and nationals may travel to the U.S. under the Visa Waiver Program. Note: People may NOT use this program if they are also a citizen or national of Iraq, Syria, or Sudan in addition to one of the countries listed below.
